Paroti is the largest global charity and crowdfunding community in the world.

The history of MAZIMA starts in March 2018 when we were officially registered as accompany registered by the URSB.
MAZIMA is a child centered organization that believes in equality, respect for human rights and support to the most vulnerable communities. We believe that if the vulnerable children, youth and young women are empowered, and their full potential will be utilized, it will result in socio-economic development. We are operating currently in Eastern Uganda, in Busoga District, as being one of the most deprived areas of the country. We have hopes of expanding to other parts of the country in a later stage.

Fighting poverty by working transparently and efficiently. Our aim is empowering people and particularly deprived and vulnerable children in Uganda by providing the means to improve their lives and the opportunity to become young adults, parents and leaders who bring lasting and positive change towards self-sufficient and prosperous communities. These objectives are realized by encouraging the local population to carry out the projects we support as we collaborate with our partnering organizations in helping their own people to achieve a better and brighter future.

Mazima works on the basis of the same parameters of Stop Poverty. The three key values in operating are:

Character: Integrity, reliability, transparency, accountability and altruism.
Compassion: We work with a “heart” for the poor.
Competence: We work based on a standard of Excellence, in efficiency, accuracy, communication and professionalism, and require our partners to emulate these core values.

Why Uganda

Uganda is characterized by extreme poverty, especially in rural areas. They have no access to basic services such as clean drinking water, medical care and education. The high level of unemployment and an income below the poverty line (read: less than € 25 per month per family). For most youngsters their future is extremely uncertain. For girls, there is a large risk for early pregnancy. What is the chance that a teenage mother of 13 or 14, with child, without education or relevant work experience, will find a job in Uganda, a country with extremely high unemployment? But also for boys, the situation is desperate. In many cases they will drop out from school early and will lose themselves in alcohol or drugs abuse, gambling and sexual abuse towards girls and young women. How can that lead to prosperous communities?

Shocking facts:

  1. Nearly 58% (27.5 million) of Uganda’s population of 46 million, are under the age of 20;
  2. More than 30% of children from the poorest families do not attend school.
  3. 64% to 70% of this youngest generation (>18 years) labor force is unemployed due to lack of vocational training.
