Comprehensive Antenatal Care for a Healthy Pregnancy

At Mazima Community Development Center, our Antenatal Services provide holistic care for expectant mothers, including routine check-ups, health education, nutrition support, essential screenings, tetanus immunization, malaria prevention, and emotional counseling. We empower women with the knowledge and support they need for a safe and healthy pregnancy, while also engaging families through group sessions, male involvement, and community outreach.

Understanding the Barriers We Face

Challenge

Teenage pregnancy remains a major concern in Uganda, with a national rate of 24%, rising to 34% in rural areas—the primary focus of MAZIMA’s outreach (UNICEF, 2015). The situation has been further worsened by prolonged school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Media reports indicate that many girls may not return to school due to unplanned pregnancies. This project aims to support 200 teenage mothers in the Busoga sub-region, providing them with a second chance to care for themselves and their babies through targeted interventions, life skills, and community support.
