Darling Uganda Empowers Mazima Students with Training and Donations in Hairdressing & Beauty
Mazima Community Development Initiatives was privileged to host Darling Uganda, the country’s largest hair manufacturer, in an impactful visit that combined donations, hands-on training, and mentorship for our Hairdressing and Beauty students. The visit marked a significant milestone in Mazima’s mission to equip young Ugandans with market-ready skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

Transformative Learning Experience
More than 80 trainees from the Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Department actively participated in the session, which was facilitated by Darling Uganda’s professional stylists and industry experts.
The training covered:
- Modern hairstyling techniques: braiding, weaving, finishing, and creative styling with Darling’s latest products.
- Entrepreneurship in beauty: guidance on pricing, customer service, and building a salon business.
- Industry trends: exposure to global standards and innovations in hairdressing.
The interactive, practical approach allowed students to learn by doing, boosting both their technical confidence and creative skills.
Donations That Make a Difference
Darling Uganda demonstrated its commitment to youth empowerment by donating products and tools valued at over UGX 3 Million. These included:
- 100+ packs of hair extensions and braids
- Professional styling gels and treatment products
- Combs, rollers, and essential salon tools
These resources will be integrated into the training curriculum, ensuring that students practice with industry-standard materials that mirror the professional salon environment.
Impact in Their Own Words
“At Darling Uganda, we believe in equipping young people with skills and tools that transform their future. Mazima provides a fertile ground for grooming tomorrow’s beauty professionals, and we are honoured to support this cause,”
said Pearl, Darling Uganda Representative].
“This partnership goes beyond products – it has given our students hope, confidence, and practical exposure to succeed in a competitive market,”
remarked Joan, Partnership Manager.
Why This Matters

With skills and resources gained, trainees are now better positioned to:

- Access jobs in professional salons.
- Innovate within Uganda’s growing beauty industry, which employs thousands each year.
