Equipping Young Entrepreneurs with Skills to Start. Knowledge to Grow. Confidence to Succeed

On 16 September 2026, officials from Equity Bank visited Mazima Community Development Initiatives (Mazima CDI) to conduct a financial literacy session for our Vocational Training students. The engagement formed part of efforts to equip young people with practical financial knowledge and skills that can support them as they transition from vocational training into entrepreneurship and sustainable employment.

The session brought together students who had completed their examinations and are now preparing to take the next important step—starting, managing, and growing their own businesses. The training provided practical insights into key areas of financial management, including saving, budgeting, responsible borrowing, financial planning, and making informed business decisions. These skills are essential in helping young entrepreneurs manage their resources responsibly, identify opportunities, and build businesses with the potential for long-term sustainability.

At Mazima CDI, we believe that vocational skills are only the beginning. While technical and practical skills provide young people with the foundation to earn a living, financial literacy gives them the knowledge and confidence to manage their income, make sound financial decisions, and turn their skills into sustainable livelihoods. By combining vocational training with financial knowledge, we are empowering young people to become more confident, self-reliant, and prepared to contribute meaningfully to their families, communities, and the wider economy.

We are sincerely grateful to Equity Bank for investing its time, expertise, and commitment in empowering our young entrepreneurs. Such partnerships play an important role in strengthening the impact of vocational education and preparing young people for a future filled with opportunity. Together, we are building a future where skills become opportunities, opportunities become sustainable enterprises, and sustainable enterprises create lasting change.
