MAZIMA HALFWAY HOUSE FOR YOUNG WOMEN NEARS COMPLETION

April 2025 — This month marks an important milestone for Mazima Community Development Initiative (Mazima CDI) as the final touches are being completed on the Mazima Halfway House, a safe and supportive shelter for eight young women and teenage mothers in Uganda.

Mazima Halfway House was completed in April 2025.

The Halfway House is designed to provide temporary accommodation for young women who are living in vulnerable or threatened situations. Many of these young women have been forced to leave school due to unwanted pregnancies or other difficult circumstances, leaving them without education, income, or support to care for themselves and their babies.

Comfortable living spaces are created to offer a safe and nurturing environment.

Youth pregnancies remain a significant challenge across Africa, often trapping young women in cycles of poverty and marginalization. Understanding this urgent need, Mazima CDI has taken action to provide not only shelter but also a path forward.

Vocational training in progress: empowering young women with skills for a better future.

At the Halfway House, the residents will have access to Vocational Training programs that equip them with practical skills to achieve financial independence and a brighter future for themselves and their children.

Through this initiative, Mazima CDI aims to restore hope, dignity, and opportunity to young mothers and vulnerable women, helping them reintegrate into society with confidence and purpose.

We look forward to officially opening the Halfway House soon and welcoming our first group of residents.
