Empowering Young Mothers in Jinja: Building Hope, Restoring Dreams
In Eastern Uganda, in communities like Buyala, Kabowa, and across Jinja, too many young women face life-changing challenges far too early.
Teenage pregnancy, lack of access to education, and poverty trap thousands of girls in a cycle of hardship.
Without support, many young mothers are forced to leave school, denied economic opportunities, and go to raise children alone, vulnerable to exploitation and deepening poverty.
At Mazima Community Development Initiative (Mazima CDI), we believe every young mother deserves a second chance to dream, learn, and thrive again.
Our Mission: A New Beginning for Young Mothers
Through our Young Mothers Empowerment Program, we work hand-in-hand with the community to:
✅ Provide Safe Shelter
We offer safe, supportive housing for young mothers and their babies, a place of peace, dignity, and healing.
✅ Deliver Vocational Skills Training
We equip young women with hands-on skills like cosmetology, hairdressing, organic farming, and small business management, so they can build independent, sustainable futures.
✅ Promote Education and Literacy
Through literacy classes and continuing education support, we help young mothers return to school or start new learning journeys.
✅ Offer Counselling and Mentorship
Emotional healing is just as important as skills. We provide counselling, life coaching, and peer mentorship to restore confidence and hope.
✅ Support Healthy Parenting
Young mothers learn about nutrition, child development, and health practices, giving their babies a stronger, healthier start to life.
